He Served in Many Political Office before Becoming President

Before rising to become the President of France, Nicholas Sarkozy served in many political positions including Mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine, Minister of the Budget, and Minster of Interior. Others are Minister of Finances before becoming the leader of Union for a Popular Movement.

Was abandoned by his Father

Sarkozy revealed that he was abandoned by his father and was catered for by his grandfather who had more influence on him. According to him, he rarely saw his father. He, however, acknowledged that situation made him what he is today.

He Suffered inferiority Complex as a Child

Even though his family were rich in their own regard, Sarkozy reveals that he fell inferior when with his wealthier and taller schoolmates. According to him, the humiliations he suffered and other things he went through as a child, rather inspired him to reach a high status.

Education

Sarkozy failed his sixieme while in high school at Lycee Chaptel and as a result, he was moved to a private Catholic School, Cours Saint-Louis de Monceau. It is reported that he was an unexceptional student while there. He continued his education at the Universite Paris X Nanterre and graduated with an M.A in private law. He obtained his D.E.A degree in business law from the same University.  From 1971 to 1981, he entered into Sciences Po but never graduated.

Marriages and Children

Nicholas Sarkozy has married three times, first to Marie-Dominique Culioli from 1982-1996 and after their divorce married Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz from 1996-2007. He current marriage is to Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, whom he married in 2008. Sakorzy has four children Giulia, Louis; Jean and Pierre.

Wealth

As per demands of the constitution, Sarkozy as a president declared his net worth as €2 million in 2008. Most of his wealth was in the form of life insurance policies. After he assumed office as a president, he also increased his annual salary from €101,000 to €240,000.

Scandals

Sarkozy has undergone several corruption investigations after his tenure as president. In July 2012, the police raided his house and office during an investigation into illegal campaign financing. He was placed under house arrest for breach of trust in March 2013.
