Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a religious pilgrimage made by people from the Hindu, Buddhists, Janis, and Bon religions. They believe that trekking the 52 km path of the Kailash Mountain brings good fortune. Therefore one has to prepare well for this journey. That’s what we highlight in these seven points.

1. Be of Good Health

To take on this journey you have to be healthy. It involves a lot of trekking(25-30days), fluctuating temperatures and different oxygen levels depending on the altitude. People with high blood pressure or sugar levels are advised not to go. Ensure that your body is in top shape physically. It’s advisable to carry an oxygen cylinder.

2. Legit Documents

Different documents are required depending on which side you are coming from. You need a legal passport which has more than half a year to expiration. In most cases the tour operators deal with the paperwork at the Tibetan border, Indians are the only ones who don’t need a visa for Nepal. It is very important to have the right medical and travel insurance cover. Ensure that emergency and rescue services are included in the cover.

3. The Right Clothes

Do not carry a lot of clothes. You may never get a chance to change due to exhaustion or very low temperatures. Make sure you have inner thermals, gloves, woolen socks, monkey cap, trousers, and a raincoat. Check with your tour operator to see if they provide a bag pack, down jackets and wind catchers.
